I think the people who comment on WSHH haven't gotten past 2nd grade.
Anyway this is amazing.
This man is so real. He's my favorite artist.

An Analysis of Kat Stacks Personality

This was a pretty good article. Check it out. I had to unfollow her and stop watching her videos months ago. I didn't understand why some people were glorifying her actions and others were constantly going out of their way to talk negatively about her. Anyway, check it out. The blogger thinks she's a sociopath.

Rihanna - SNL / Saturday Night Live - What's My Name

(Those are the same hips that got every man trying to put a ring on it.)

I'm proud of RiRi! This was such a flirty performance. Makes me proud to be a fish. I've been trying to wine like that all day. The girl's got skills.

Michelle Obama Works to Eliminate Food Deserts...

Must Listen!

I can't express to you how much I love these two songs.
They inspire me in so many different ways.

If you guys haven't heard of Jhene and you like this one. Definitely check out her twitter - @JheneAiko and her tumblr - JheneAiko.tumblr.com
She's a pisces so she has that bohemian swag and she's definitely one of my favorites. You can feel her emotion in every one of her songs but it's a different kind of emotion. It's not loud or in your face like Keyshia Cole and Mary. It's very subtle, the kind that keeps you coming back for more.

Enjoy!

Mos Def - Fear Not Of Man

This man made my whole yesterday and today. Check it out!

A lot of things have changed
A lot of things have not, mainly us
We gon' get it together right? I believe that
Listen.. people be askin me all the time,
"Yo Mos, what's gettin ready to happen with Hip-Hop?"
(Where do you think Hip-Hop is goin?)
I tell em, "You know what's gonna happen with Hip-Hop?
Whatever's happening with us"
If we smoked out, Hip-Hop is gonna be smoked out
If we doin alright, Hip-Hop is gonna be doin alright
People talk about Hip-Hop like it's some giant livin in the hillside
comin down to visit the townspeople
We (are) Hip-Hop
Me, you, everybody, we are Hip-Hop
So Hip-Hop is goin where we goin
So the next time you ask yourself where Hip-Hop is goin
ask yourself.. where am I goin? How am I doin?
Til you get a clear idea

One essay down, four to go plus homework, a big photo assignment and studying for midterms...WTF COLLEGE?

^The only way this is happening.

Some people...

really hate when you agree with them. I thought people liked empathy but sometimes people wanna feel special. Don't rain on their parade, just ooh and aah and inquire about the situation.

I Need To....

I think I need to start debating with people, and
Talking on the phone rather than texting.
I'm more decisive but I need to have the ability to be decisive on the spot and communicate an idea in a way that the listener understands what I'm saying.
I need to focus,
To retain information without killing myself in the process,
To lay off the unrefined carbs, and bad fats,
and learn Sudarshan Kriya,
I need to speed read,
Master the art of the comparative essay,
Learn to study for different types of tests, and
Participate in class.

I need a social life,
To do other things besides eat sleep, work, and do homework,
To become verbally fluent,
To be less serious,
To dedicate myself to tap dancing,
To figuring out if I want to stay at this school or leave.

Illuminati

Ignorant skepticism? Most people who talk about it are just regurgitating what they heard someone else say or they're jealous because said celebrity has more money, cars, clothes, and hoes than they do. How many actually go out there and research for themselves? I wonder.

Remember The Titans

Off of Mood Muzik 4
I'm definitely gonna go check it out.

Tap

I'm writing this paper on contemporary tap and I'm really confused.
I don't fully understand the difference between hoofing/"rhythm" tap and contemporary tap. AAAH!
This is what I've gathered.
One definition of contemporary tap is particularly tripping me up. It's "Orchestrated a capella tap (multiple layers of tap designed to be heard without music)." Seems like there's a fine like between that and hoofing.

Broadway Tap

Look at those pants!

Contemporary Tap

I was completely mesmerized while watching this.

Dagga! Dagga! Dagga!

I deactivated my facebook (yay!)
and blocked my twitter for an entirety of 24 hours (double yay!)

Needless to say, my communication abilities are a bit stunted which is good because now I can channel all this pent up energy into a beautifully constructed blog (which will have graphics soon), instead of mindlessly posting statuses for a bunch of people to read who I don't actually speak to in real life. (LAME!)

Anyway, so while i was "doing homework" (cough cough), I stumbled upon this documentary called "Man Ooman" about modern dancehall subculture, and that style of dancing.

I personally would like to see the whole thing because I don't get it. Why would a girl/woman volunteer herself to be objectified, and have her hair and clothes get messed up in the process. Giiirrrrll, you know you spent hours on that! There's nothing wrong with dances being sexual. I just see a problem with it when that sexuality is paired with aggression.

There's definitely a role reversal from traditional dancing. In traditional grinding "the woman is the portrait and the male is the frame." Her goal being to "break" him. Some (probably Caribbean) guys follow and some just stand there while the woman does her thing, but daggering is about power. The men try to show off like in Cuban-style salsa or Casino but they take it a step further and try to show the woman their power in a very aggressively sexual, almost violent manner. Sometimes the girls even try to run away! Yikes!

Examples:
Grinding or Dubbing:

Perreo:

Daggering:

Here's a trailer for the documentary:

According to Beenie Man, dancehall started in the ghetto. I particularly felt enlightened by Stacey Ann Chin's quote,
"When you have no control over your kids and your life, you seek control in weird places like "I'm gonna control how high this girl can place her leg or how hard I can thrust her against the wall."

Sociologists say that in poor areas, young girls tend to be hyper-sexual and men tend to be violent so why wouldn't that be expressed through dance (e.g. grinding/dubbing/perreo/daggering and the slew of youtube taped fights that have become popular in recent times.)

If someone finds the whole documentary, let me know!
I'd like to get another female's perspective on this. What do you think about our way of expressing ourselves through dance? Do women enjoy this? Do they do it to feel bad or because it's all they know? to fit in? low self-esteem? daddy issues? sexual empowerment? to feel attractive to the opposite sex? influence by the media?

The Positive Post-It Project

The Positive Post-It Project is a really cool event that I happened to notice on my wall on Facebook. It happened on October 10th so I missed it but that's no reason not to keep it going year-round. I already do this sometimes and I'm going to make an effort to do it more regularly starting today. You should too! Send out those positive vibes!

You can also do this for yourself!
Write five great things about your day everyday on a post-it note and date it.
Fun Tip: I put mine on my wall like a mini calendar.
It totally changes your outlook and makes you focus on the positive things rather than the negative.

Save the world one post-it note at a time! Do it!

"Bring In An Image That Most Closely Represents Who You Are."

Emanuela De Paula By Jacques Dequeker for Wish Report Magazine

My assignment.

Look Up! Stop Texting!

As I was perusing my newsfeed on facebook today I saw a post by my favorite magazine, NYLON, and was already pretty excited because they have the best posts but then I clicked the link and felt instantly inspired and validated.

This is what I saw:

The awesome brand LustBklyn has put out a line of Men's tees, women's wifebeaters, a notepad, and even blackberry and iphone cases encouraging people to put their phone's down, their mission being to encourage us to live in the real world, more than the technological one. I've been saying how much I hate texting for ages (which is proven by how long it takes me to answer). I'll definitely be picking up one of these items.

If You Really Knew Me...

"It wasn't until we got that TV 'til we stopped talking to each other or until we got our phones that we stopped listening to each other, 'til we each got our own rooms that we got so distant that we don't even know each other...If you really knew me you'd know that I'm still grateful for my life because it was because of all this that I have a passion for writing and because I know what I wanna do with my life and because I have such a big heart and I can love any kind of person and be so open-minded. " -Leikin of If You Really Knew Me

A really deep statement about the negative effect of technology and materialism on our society and a good reminder that our struggle's are important to make us stronger better people.

From the Movie "He's Just Not That Into You"

"Girls are taught a lot of stuff growing up. If a guy punches you he likes you. Never try to trim your own bangs and someday you will meet a wonderful guy and get your very own happy ending. Every movie we see, Every story we're told implores us to wait for it, the third act twist, the unexpected declaration of love, the exception to the rule. But sometimes we're so focused on finding our happy ending we don't learn how to read the signs. How to tell from the ones who want us and the ones who don't, the ones who will stay and the ones who will leave. And maybe a happy ending doesn't include a guy, maybe... it's you, on your own, picking up the pieces and starting over, freeing yourself up for something better in the future. Maybe the happy ending is... just... moving on. Or maybe the happy ending is this, knowing after all the unreturned phone calls, broken-hearts, through the blunders and misread signals, through all the pain and embarrassment you never gave up hope."

The BET Awards

The Bet Awards definitely didn't measure up to last year but they're were some great performances. Usher did a really hypnotic and smooth version of there goes my baby. My mouth was watering. Kanye had a pretty solid performance, him vs. the mountain. The visual was epic. Chris Brown took the night with his MJ tribute, but what I wanted to tell you about was this new chick, Elle Varner. She sang a jazzy groove about insecurity and body image. Check it out!

Summer Goal: Make The Little Things Count

Written on Monday

"It's funny how it takes life knocking you on your ass for you to make a change. The bad times are a blessing." - Kay
I've been somewhat of a loner recently which is somewhat awkward because I LOOOVE people. I guess it's just that awkward transitional phase from childhood to adulthood, from school to school (to school?), from over-tolerance and empathy to resiliency and true altruism, from a 7-month escapist moratorium to appreciation of the daily small miracles while remaining hyper-present in each moment. I've learned how to be independent. It took an extreme case to teach me this and now I want to embrace it as a blessing and a gift. I've talked myself down from many a ledge and it's time to take this skill to the next level and become more of a soothsayer to others, a strong servant of the world. I think that's important. When I'm void of something, it makes me want to be that for someone else. I want to be everything that no one was to me. I want to be everyone's rock without letting their problems effect me in a negative way. I want to be a source of hope, advice and comfort. Actually, I'm taking a bit of a break from social networking. Everyone seems to be depressingly complaining about the mishaps in their lives. It's a horrible environment. I'm somewhat of a hipster, so i think that was God's way of telling me to live, and furthermore live happily. Since sad is in, obviously I can't part-take in such activity...obviously. I want to refresh my pisces gills, and strengthen my Nemo-fin that everyone else sees as a weakness.

How am I gonna do this?

The 14-Day Acai Diet Cleanse

This 2 weeks I'm going to be making a bunch of changes. This is a physical cleanse but i plan on making it a spiritual cleanse as well.

1) Pampering myself
I'm going to make a skin, nail, hair, and dental care regimen
Which will include bubble baths, sun baths on the beach while picnic-ing, nail art exploration (I almost never do them), and face masks

2)Daily Study Bible Consultation

3)Garnishing my meals
I've been doing this for the last week and it's fun. I want my food to be visually appetizing, healthy and ofcourse tasty.
4) Daily exercise
Yoga and Pilates everyday, and some dance classes in NYC after my first paycheck

5)Researching and embracing a Zen Lifestyle

6) Letting Out My Inner-Child
It comes out often, believe me but I'm working at camp this summer and I want to be in the sand, on the ball-field, in the sprinkler, everywhere with these kids! I want to get my hands dirty, be fun, while still letting them know who's in charge. I want to show them the beauty in novelty within the routine by always introducing new games, bringing in new prizes, and always keeping them on their toes.

Sunday, July 11th Update

The first time i took the Acai Diet Cleanse pills I already felt cleaner and more energized.
I take 3 a day and I think I lost about 5 pounds as of thursday but I'm not exactly sure about this as I don't own a scale (I'm estimating from doctor's visits). This to do list was a bit ambitious but I've had a good start. I've been more relaxed and I want to try to embrace every single item on my list as of today!

Cool Snacks I've Made:

1)Fruit Salad: Vanilla yogurt, with wheat germ, plums, and bananas

2)Shrimp with my own cocktail sauce made from tomato sauce, lemon juice, salt, and italian dressing

3)Chocolate pancakes made with pancake mix and nesquick, Banana pancakes, and Banana Chocolate pancakes

4)Sandwich Wrap: Turkey, with steak sauce peppers and onions cooked in a skillet

5) Chicken Salad with cornflakes

6)3 Store bought chocolate chip cookies with about a teaspoon of fat free milk poured in the center and microwaved for about 15 seconds. (Almost tastes fresh baked) accompanied by a banana, and dark chocolate roast almonds

Better Than Good Enough

If the title itself wasn't H-O-T hot, Drake's Documentary "Better Than Good Enough" was really inspiring. It was well put together too. I have no idea what the technical terms are for this but the picture was really clear kind of like Revolution Road with Leonardo Dicaprio and Kate Winslet. The picture was like hyper-HD. His authentic words were accompanied by a clean-clear picture which made me like it so much more.
He closed it with the lines, "I am Aubrey Drake Graham and i make a living off of truly being myself."

Warning!

WARNING
If you are reading this then this warning is for you. Every word you
read of this useless fine print is another second off your life. Don't
you have other things to do? Is your life so empty that you honestly
can't think of a better way to spend these moments? Or are you so
impressed with authority that you give respect and credence to all who

everything you're supposed to think? Buy what you're told you should

I haven't been following my summer goals at all...

....but let me illustrate to you what I have accomplished, all while sitting on my ass. Amazing, right?

In fact, I have a newfound affinity for micro-blogging.
Microblogging is like water for ADHD.
All your thoughts can be documented, but they're also very abbreviated.
I'm trying to balance it out by getting back to traditional blogging which actually promotes fully developed thoughts while also providing closure.

My Tumblr - http://straightn0chaser.tumblr.com/
In astrological terms my tumblr is like my ascendant - How i express myself: fashion, my sense of style, what inspires me while my blogspot is like my sun sign and moon sign - who i am consciously and subconsciously. Check it out and follow me. You can't have one without the other.

My Twitter - http://twitter.com/KayOnPurpose
My twitter is pretty much just daily musings and observations. It's not a play by play of my day. I hate that! My moon sign expressing itself through my ascendant =)

I've been getting into astrology.
I know i must've confused you (if you're not into astrology) with all the sun sign/moon sign/ascendant talk. I'm actually planning on doing a full post on this. It's so fascinating. I've learned so much but there's still so much to learn. I might become a part time astrologer by the end of this summer.

I've been contemplating the dynamics of ho-ism.
Have you guys not heard of Kat Stacks? I don't doubt that she had sex with some of the entertainers who she's claimed to but she's seeming progressively lame with her twitter mackin' and obsessive lying. Oh, and have you heard the girl's voice? Hoodratery at it's finest.
I need to take a psychology/sociology class on this before i analyze myself into a hole.
Stuff like this makes me ask a few questions like:

Do they do it for the attention?
Do they have daddy issues?
Do they do it to support other habits? i.e. nymphomania, drug addiction
Are these chicks just bored?
Is there a difference in their chemical makeup?
Are people, specifically females just threatened by their actions because if their isn't a consequence than what's governing our ideals about female sexuality besides social norms?

I dyed my hair black in the front and blonde in the back.
It's actually pretty sweeeeeet. I mixed it myself. Full post on this also coming.

I've been questioning conspiracy theories, specifically, Freemasonry in the music industry.
I honestly think Lady Gaga's a wack. If you know me you know this. The chick freaks me out. She even said she wants our souls. Her music seems to be very shallow. More like she's trying to make hits and overtake our brains than make music. All in all I do believe that the artists may be involved in something. Maybe it's just one big publicity stunt but devil worshiping? You gotta be pullin' my leg.

I've been surfing the internet.

Stumbleupon.com Necolebitchie.com and Diddyblog.com are some of the websites i frequent.

I've been researching homeopathy.

I'm turning into such a hippie. All this OTC stuff is pure crap. Natural remedies my grandmother and mom have told me about work better than anything else. Personally, I find organic shea butter works wonders for all skin amenities. It helps my folliculitis, blemishes, and my mom's eczema. (It's also a great hair conditioner!)
So pretty much if you have a problem type in (Name of problem) homeopathy or (name of problem) holistic remedies and i'm sure you'll find something!

Also, i've noticed the importance of humour.

Comedy is like therapy. You forget all of your problems and get a great ab workout at the same time.  The Last Comic Standing is hilarious!  (I tend to like the girls who talk in that really awkward/bored Daria-Chelsea Lately voice, yum.) I also really love Jimmy Fallon. He's so funny and dynamic.

& lastly I've been looking into colleges to transfer to, and taking summer classes (the reason I've been neglecting you, sorry!)
I still haven't gotten my response back so pray for me. I could really use a new beginning to an awesome 3 more years of college =)

What have you guys been up to?

This Poem Doesn't Even Exist

Nobody tells me I'm pretty.
My hipsterish ways should act as the great wall that keeps this from effecting me.
Beauty is in everyone, everything.
It's just that the beauty of some is more critically acclaimed.
So why do I, as an underground gem, crave the standing of a Top 40 ho?

"My beauty comes in the form of shifty eyes bouncing up and down from my curls to my ankles, shy glances, static stares, greetings and goodbyes;
only observed, never possessed by anyone but me.
My beauty? It's the truth! It doesn't sell-out," she said
as the True Religion jean wearing stranger whistled at her, the tune of her youth, in his laceless shoes.
"Ayo ma, psssssst pssssssssst...that chip on your shoulder sure looks like it tastes good," he said
striking me with the fear that my closet beliefs, backyard desires, and situational ideologies wouldn't hold up with a knife at my neck and a gun to my head,
as i write these words in black ink on black paper in this pitch black room. This poem doesn't even exist.

"My beauty is sneaky and ruthless, covert and quiet. It doesn't glow in the dark!"

Originals vs. Samples

Really Lindsay?
I have no idea what to say about this.

Aaaaah, that's more like it!

Let's visit some good remakes/samples and erase that from our brains. Shall we?

Now for the remake!

I Have NO idea who made the original of this there are just so many damn versions!
Here's a notable one.

Are people allowed to be that attractive? Daamn, it's that tigeraso!

On to the next
Original!

Vs. the marvelous Remake!

Phew...I feel better now. How about you?

El Tigeerraassoooo

This is what i'd like to call productive procrastination. It's when you direct all your procrastination into performing one particular task so when you fail at life you at least have something to show for it!

So i heard this song El Tigeraso by Maluca and now it's my jaaaam!
The Beat, The Sodacans, the everything. Love Love Love, Check it out!

What's up with "El Tigeraso"?

Dominicans call the bad boys on the corner who are up to no good – but who have mad swag – Tigeres. "El Tigeraso" is the game or swag. Growing up, I would go visit my cousins or grandma Uptown. Back then, you couldn't get from one corner to the next without those "Tigeres" trying to holler at you. It was kinda outta control. Especially if you walked down Broadway. So the song "El Tigeraso" is poking fun at that whole situation. When I say "throwing all that Tigeraso in air," I mean: "You're throwing so much game at me (literally it's in the air... kinda like a fog) that I can't even get to next corner. Wassup wit that?"

From Maluca's Interview with Mun2

Around My Way We Call Them Limones, mhm. Well maybe that's just me and my friends.
All other things aside, I love me some Tigeres!

A little this, A little that

VS.

(This photo is by themorrigan @ deviant art)
So...there's a distinct difference between telling someone step by step how to do something and inspiring them to create their own different maybe more developed interpretation. (Btdubz this is what i love about Nylon Magazine. Now that i've matured i can move on from the step by step of Seventeen and do my own thing ooowww)

If you've read Steve Harvey's "Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man." You would know that this is the essence of that book. I avoided the last 2 chapters like the plague cause wtf does that hafta do with me? but really the book is just about the psychology of the male versus the psychology of the female and how the female can manipulate that to get what they want out of a relationship. it's not like "make sure u put your hair in a red scrunchie every third thursday of the month." No no no! Lord knows i hate crap like that.

Why go from this

to This?

WTTTTFFFF?????!!!!!!!

Well I was just on Facebook and if your an avid facebookee you've probably seen that group called "why do guys cheat on pretty girls with ugly girls?" or something like that. Some guys actually commented on the wall to give some incite saying things like "it's because the male mindset focuses on quantity, while the female mind focuses on quality." or in less words, they just wanna spread their damn seed.

I just saw this video posted in my newsfeed. (People may either get hyped up or tight cause my subject matter can reflect their statuses but i don't watch the news so...You guys inspire me! I don't care either way cause that means you reading my blog =) therefore I looove yooouu.)

This video explains the cheating idea more in depth.

Feel free to comment. Imaginary friends are cool and all but not for a blog!

I'm An Extremist

I Over-exaggerate, over-react, over-everything
because I'm an extremist.

Moderation has never been my thing.
That whole less is more gimmick? never got it...

In fact, if i didn't know any better I'd put on so much makeup that i looked like a drag queen
because..... I'm an extremist.

I never learned the beauty of quiet power, silent strength.

I'd probably tap dance to get your attention rather than say something witty or cunning because....
you guessed it, I'm an extremist.

Maybe it's because i was "invisible" for so many years or the fact that I'm trying to over-compensate for my compact size.

Actually i'm much more likely to want to go bungee jumping or cliff diving than ride a motorcycle. You know why? Because I'm an effing extremist.

My Philosophy? All or None
If you can't finish don't start.
If you won't do it well, don't do it at all.

In fact if i was trying to kill off people i'd be more likely to use weapons of mass destruction than lethal gas.

I'm sure you know why.

Thank you! You may now return to your regular programming.

Grr.....

"Having ADHD feels natural to me - seeing as I have always been this way. What I can say - now that I am aware that I have it - is that the diagnosis has given me an awareness how much it has impacted my life. I do get disgusted with myself because of my procrastination, yet the disgust has not propelled me into attempting to change my ways.

I guess the most overwhelming feeling related to ADHD is that of knowing about my lost potential - that I will likely never reach my potential. Hopefully I can settle for being a good (though perceived as scatterbrained by my family) person." - At Heart

I'm pretty sure the fact that i'm even attending college is self-deprecating because it not only facilitates but perpetuates the false labeling. I'm sure you've heard them lazy, withdrawn, slow, etc..

The Beautiful People...

Okay, so I have this awkward thing for those Afro-Mexicans. Maybe it's my inner Belizean but....

This song seemed appropriate.
